difficult to capture the moment

lately mindfulness and "being in the moment" have become more important to more people. to celebrate the present. to surrender to it. deep breaths in....aaaaaand out......ahhhh.

well, this is really difficult to do (much like photographing this piece)

i've become better at trying to be mindful more often, to not worry so much about the end result. but i'm far from being good at it. so even in the most peaceful of times, i'm undoubtedly always haunted by the whispered "what's next" question. aren't most people this way?

so here's my attempt to make these conflicting feelings visual. the words are there, but just ghosts. it literally spells out "what is next"--both a question and a statement.

if only i had a clear space to set up and install work to photograph it. maybe someday...

i know...the letters aren't visible here. that's alright.

because they're there.

i'd like someday also display this banner half hung up, like the moment (party) is over. what's next?

my manual composite where you can maybe see the subtle shadows of the letters.

sometimes THIS is what is next. this right here---and that's okay.
